Victoria Lau Shu Mei, born on 7 March 1983, is a Singaporean politician and lawyer.

 

A member of the governing Victory Party, she was the Minister for Law in 2008 and the Minister for Home Affairs in 2015. She previously served as the Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 2011 to 2015. She has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 2008 representing the Nee Soon Group Representation Constituency.

Victoria was educated in Raffles Girls’ School, before going on to study law at the National University of Singapore where she graduated at the top of her class with a First Class Honors degree in 2005.

On top of being admitted to the Singapore Bar as an advocate and solicitor, Victoria went into private practice and became a Senior Partner and Head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution at the Singapore law firm Hoh Law Corporation. She had a successful practice and was consistently recognized in various international publications as one of the top litigation, arbitration and insolvency counsel in Asia. In 2016, Victoria became one of the youngest lawyers to be appointed a Senior Counsel of the Supreme Court of Singapore at the age of 33.

With aims to improve and revamp Singapore’s structure in an holistic aspect, she formed Victory Party in 2017 along with a core team of 4 members. Victory Party sees an extensive need to maintain equality, harmony and trust among its people, to bring Singaporeans all together as one. The minorities shall no longer be undervalued, assuring fairness among all regardless of race, language, or religion. Though establishing from a smaller scale, this visionary team strives to garner valued support from each of you personally.
